The Devices tab of the Groups interface is where a list of devices assigned to the group can be viewed and device assignments can be managed.

Managing Device Group Assignments

Assign Devices to Static Groups

1. Navigate to the Groups page and click the name of the static group in the Groups list.
2. Under the “Devices” tab of the Group, click into the search bar. This will display a list of devices that are available to assign.
3. Scroll the dropdown to find the device you want to assign, or start typing the device name to search.
   1. Quick tip: To search for devices using another attribute, such as name, serial number, IMEI, MAC address, UDID, or phone number, click the filter carrot in the search bar and change the attribute. Then type the search value into the search bar.
4. Click the checkbox or device name in the dropdown to add it to your group.
   1. Quick tip: If you are adding multiple devices at once, click the checkboxes - this will keep the search dropdown open to quickly add more devices. If you are only adding one device quickly, click the device name - this will close the dropdown immediately after adding the device.
5. After all devices have been added, click “Review” to review the assignment changes and save.

Remove Devices from Static Groups:

1. Navigate to the Groups page and click the name of the static group in the Groups list.
2. Under the “Devices” tab of the group, check the box next to the names of the devices to be unassigned.
3. Click the “Unassign” button near the top-right corner next to the assignment search bar. This will stage the devices to be removed from the group.
4. To confirm the changes and update the device memberships, click “Review” and save the changes.

Assigning to and Removing Devices from Dynamic Groups

Devices are assigned to dynamic groups based on meeting the criteria of the filters configured for the group.

Editing Dynamic Group Filters:

1. Navigate to the Groups page and click the name of the dynamic group in the Groups list.

2. Click the “+” button next to the “Device Filter” label to expand the filters view, or click the “Filter” button at the top of of the table under the Devices tab.

3. Edit the filters as needed. For more information on using filters, see the Groups Overview KB article here [link out to other KB article].

4. Once finished with editing the filters, click the “Stage Filter Changes” button. This will update the Devices table for the Group to preview the new selection of devices.

5. To confirm the changes and update the device memberships, click “Review” and save the changes.

Notes:

• Device memberships, and the configurations assigned to the devices, will not be updated until completing the Review & Save steps.
• Dynamic Groups also support direct device assignments, similar to static groups.

View and Assign a Single Device to Many Groups At Once

The Groups tab under the Device Details page allows you to view all groups that a device belongs to. From this screen, the device can also be quickly added to or removed from multiple static groups.

1. Click the device name to view the Device Details page.
2. Select the Groups tab to view the list of assigned groups for that device.
3. Click the "Assign Group" button at the top-right of the tab.
4. Click "Assign" next to the Groups you want to add the device to.

To unassign static groups for a single device:

1. From the Groups tab on the Device Details page, check the boxes next to the static group names in the list.
2. Click "Actions" and select "Unassign".
