Why can't I unlock my device with Touch ID anymore?

SimpleMDM allows an administrator to disable Touch ID, or "fingerprint", on a device. When the "Allow fingerprint for unlock" option is unchecked under Group Restrictions, the device is no longer able to be unlocked with Touch ID.

After re-enabling this feature in SimpleMDM, touch ID can again be used, however the option will be turned off in iOS.

To turn the option back on, complete the following:

  1. Open the Settings app in iOS
  2. Navigate to "Touch ID & Passcode"
  3. Turn the "iPhone Unlock" option to on.
