Enrollment by Link

This article explains how to manually enroll a device in MDM using the 'Enrollment by Link' method.

Create the Enrollment URL

1. Within SimpleMDM, click Enrollments on the left side of the screen.
2. Click 'Add Enrollment'
3. Select 'Group Enrollment'.
4. Give the enrollment a name, select the 'Initial device group' that you want devices to be assigned to when they enroll, and keep 'User Enrollment' set to 'No'.
5. Click Save.
6. The following screen presents the enrollment URL under the "Enrollment Link" section. You can email or SMS this link directly to a device under "Send To Device". Alternatively, the enrollment link URL can be clicked or entered into Safari on the device by hand.

Enrolling an iOS Device

1. On the device, open the enrollment link URL with Safari.
2. Click the "Download Enrollment Profile" button on the web page.
3. A prompt will be shown asking if you want to download a configuration profile. Select "Allow".
4. Close the prompt.
5. Go back to the home screen and open the Settings app.
6. Near the top of the main Settings menu, a "Profile Downloaded" option should appear. Select it.
7. On the "Install Profile" screen, select "Install".
8. Enter your passcode if necessary.
9. A warning screen will appear. Select "Install".
10. A remote management dialog will appear. Select "Trust".
11. The device will enroll with SimpleMDM. When the process has completed, you may select "Done".

Enrolling a macOS Device

1. Click the link or enter the URL in a browser.
2. Click the "Download Enrollment Profile" button on the web page.
3. After downloading the .mobileconfig, click the file to install it on your Mac. 
   1. If the profile doesn't automatically open System Settings, you'll need to go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Profile
4. When prompted, click "Install".
5. If prompted, authenticate with local admin credentials and click "Enroll".

Enrolling a tvOS Device

Note: if your device administrator has configured authentication for device enrollments, you will be prompted to enter your username and password to authenticate before the profile can be installed.
